During fieldwork, I live in Nigeria for about half of the year, while it is dry season. We can’t use recording equipment for the baboon sounds when it’s raining, so we get a holiday then! I spend the time in London working at the university. Some researchers stay at the field site all year round. If the research is affected by environment (like studies on monkey diet when fruit is only available in the summer) you usually need to work in all seasons.
