Not really, though it’s interesting that so many people do. Most people all over the world believe that their dead relatives still care about what they do. As a scientist, I don’t think there can be thoughts without a brain. But maybe when you know someone, you sort of learn to think like them, and in a way you can represent them even when they aren’t there to talk. Maybe if a lot of people miss someone who has died, and think about them a lot and what they wanted, then it’s a little bit like when they were still alive. Maybe we kind of help the dead think by loaning them our own brains when we think about them. Would you call that a ghost?

Well, the scientist in me says no…but I’ve experienced a few things that I can’t really explain…so I’m not sure.

I don’t think much about ghosts really… I believe in God and I believe somehow death is not a complete end but I’m not convinced that dead people are around us in the way we usually think of ghosts. Ghosts are sometimes seen as scary or something to be afraid of but I certainly fear living people a lot more than I fear dead ones!
