I am convinced and hopeful that we can stop polluting our rivers and oceans as badly as we are doing at the moment, and that we are still on time to save these important habitats from destruction. It will depend greatly on what people like you will do in the future and whether enough people, including our governors, realise the importance of it. Although it is helpful to continue researching to understand better how oceans and rivers function, scientists already have plenty of knowledge about what must be done to make things better. It starts with things such as not leaving any rubbish laying around, particularly on beaches or near rivers, or being careful with the fish we eat (avoid rare species or fish caught in ways that damage the bottom of the sea or other species such as dolphins). Unfortunately the rulers of the countries play an important part and they are not always interested in these issues so it is also up to us all to call their attention and to vote for those who do show interest. Another problem is that scientists are not always very good at letting people know what can be done (and many people are still not too worried about it either). This is why events like this can be very helpful!
There are ways to stop to stop river and sea pollution. The main reason we get pollution is by chemical leaks, throwing rubbish into the sea and sewage. Although chemical leaks are rare, when they do happen it wipes out the sea life around the spill. Throwing rubbish away is bad especially sharp objects. if you threw a sharp object ibto the sea it coul;d injure the sea-life by stabbing them as it falls to the bottom of the river/sea/ocean or, in some cases, killing them. General rubbish is bad as well because you don’t know what germs are on the things you are throwing away, which leads us to the last topic sewage. Although you mighn’t have known this some of your waste can be pumped into the sea killing all sea-life any shape any form, from a sea-horse to a whale! luckily there are ways to stop these things to stop damaging the enviroment and probaly the whole earth. you can recycle more things instead of throwing them away into the sea. You cannot stop chemical spills personally. tyhe only hope is that there will be better security on the oil rigs to stop this happening so frequently. For sewage, again there is nothing you can do to stop this so it’s probaly best if you hope and oray that somebody will do something about it. you never know it could be you. Unfortunately for us, this will take a long time to stop so it’s good if you start now.
