As with all the animals, the digestion time will depend on the type of food. Birds are more efficient (quicker) at digesting their food then other animals because it is important to them not to carry extra weight for too long in order to make flying easier. Typically, a parrot should take between 40 minutes to 1h30 hours to digest grains and between 15 minutes to 1h to digest fruit.

I do not own a parrot but i do own 2 cockateels. how long do they take to digest food?

Cockateels are a little smaller, so their digestion time will be a little quicker 🙂 What is your cockateel called?
